Council to consider regulating businesses at city parks, beaches

STAFF WRITER

ENCINITAS – After receiving complaints about local beaches becoming overrun with schools for novice surfers, the Encinitas City Council tonight will discuss whether to tighten oversight of surf camps. Under a broad proposal, the city would begin regulating surf camps and other business activities – fitness “boot camps,” yoga classes and personal training sessions – that take place at city beaches and parks.

    SAN ONOFRE – Nudists who congregate at the remote southern end of San Onofre State Beach can still let it all hang out, at least for a while longer. A tentative ruling yesterday by an Orange County judge has halted plans by the state Parks and Recreation Department to enforce no-nudity rules after Labor Day.

        DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO – The Centre City Development Corp. has dropped its probe of former president Nancy Graham's ties to an agency developer, saying that evidence uncovered by City Attorney Michael Aguirre makes it moot.

          City official was asked to leave an earlier job

          The Chula Vista city manager, who has been admonished by the City Council for spending too much time on personal Internet use, was asked to resign in a previous job in part because he engaged in a relationship with a subordinate.
